
SUSTAINABLE HEAT

From 13-15 July 2026, the SUSHEAT project had the pleasure to be featured at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED)’s Summer Course, La nueva revolución energética: del petróleo a la electrificación renovable (English translation: The New Energy Revolution: From Oil to Renewable Electrification). Delivered entirely in Spanish, the event took place at the Associated Centre of the UNED in Ávila, Spain.
The event provided an ideal forum for SUSHEAT to present its work on advancing industrial decarbonisation through innovative heat upgrade technologies that integrate renewable energy and industrial waste heat.
Over three days, it brought together experts from academia and the energy sector to discuss one of the defining challenges facing the energy sector today: the transition to a new energy model based on renewable energy and the electrification of the economy.
Participants could attend in person or via live stream, while recordings were made available afterwards to support flexible, self-paced learning.
Throughout the programme, participants explored the technologies shaping the future low-carbon energy system, including solar and wind power, concentrated solar power (CSP), geothermal energy, energy storage, electric vehicles, and the integration of renewable energy into buildings and industry.
The course also addressed key challenges facing the energy transition, such as maintaining electricity system stability as renewable energy deployment increases, the role of heat pump electrification in industrial decarbonisation, and lessons learned from recent events affecting the electricity system.
