From 13-15 July 2026, the SUSHEAT project had the pleasure to be featured at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED)’s Summer Course, La nueva revolución energética: del petróleo a la electrificación renovable (English translation: The New Energy Revolution: From Oil to Renewable Electrification). Delivered entirely in Spanish, the event took place at the Associated Centre of the UNED in Ávila, Spain.
Machine-Learning Meets Industrial Heating: How SUSHEAT researchers use AI to Predict the Performance of a Stirling High-Temperature Heat Pump
In a new study, researchers from UNED investigated how AI can predict the performance of the Enerin AS‘s novel Stirling cycle high-temperature heat pump (SC-HTHP). They compared two machine-learning models to determine which can estimate the system’s efficiency most accurately.

“Integració de dues disciplines de gran recorregut per aconseguir grans innovacions”
El grup de recerca GREiA de la Universitat de Lleida ja fa temps que integra l’enginyeria industrial amb la intel·ligència artificial (IA) per anar més enllà en la seva recerca. No es tracta d’aplicar mètodes o tècniques d’un àmbit en l’altre, sinó que es tracta de treballar conjuntament per aconseguir grans innovacions.

“Hedging against volatility: The economic case for the SUSHEAT ecosystem”
Long framed as an environmental imperative alone, the decarbonisation of heat is also able to offer vast economic benefits to European industry.
The sector consumes roughly half its final energy as heat, putting it under tremendous pressure to reduce its carbon footprint in alignment with EU 2050 targets on climate neutrality.

“Pioneering a sustainable heat ecosystem for European industry”
The EU-funded SUSHEAT(opens in new window) project has published two new infographics designed to demystify the complex thermal ecosystem underpinning Europe’s efforts to decarbonise its industries. Available on the project’s website, the visual material aims to raise awareness of how fossil fuel boilers can be replaced by advanced renewable-based heating solutions, reducing European industries’ dependence on imported energy.
